You Do Not Have to Get It Perfect
When someone you love has died, the last thing you should worry about is whether you have chosen the "right" flowers. Almost any flowers, chosen with sincerity, are right. Our florists have years of experience supporting families through this, and our first piece of advice is always the same: flowers chosen with love will always carry that meaning.
Types of Funeral Tribute
Wreaths
The circular wreath is the most traditional tribute in the UK, symbolising eternity. Sizes typically range from 12 to 24 inches across, and they are usually displayed beside the coffin.
Sprays and Sheaves
A spray is a flowing arrangement designed to rest on top of the coffin. A sheaf is a more relaxed, loosely tied tribute in the style of freshly gathered flowers. Both are lovely alternatives to a wreath.
Letter Tributes
Individual letters spelling a name or a word such as "MUM" or "DAD" are deeply personal and striking at the service.
Posies and Small Arrangements
For mourners rather than immediate family, a small hand-tied posy is a thoughtful and appropriate choice.
Appropriate Flowers and Colours
White is the most traditional colour for funeral flowers in the UK, representing purity and peace, with soft creams, pale pinks and lavenders also widely used. White lilies are the classic funeral flower, while chrysanthemums, white roses and carnations are all respectful choices.
