Why Wedding Flowers Matter
Flowers are among the most powerful visual elements of any wedding — they set the tone, whether romantic or modern, abundant or restrained. The right florist will translate your vision into arrangements that feel entirely personal. At Edith Wilmot, we create bespoke wedding flowers for couples across Bristol and the surrounding area.
How Early Should You Book?
We recommend booking your florist nine to twelve months ahead, especially for the popular months of May, June and September. Early booking protects your date and gives us time to plan seasonally. We do sometimes take shorter bookings for smaller weddings — enquire to check availability.
Elements to Consider
Bridal Bouquet
The centrepiece of your wedding flowers. Loose, garden-style bouquets with a natural feel are very popular, while classic hand-tied posies suit more formal weddings.
Bridesmaids' Flowers
Usually a simpler version of the bridal bouquet, or a complementary style.
Ceremony Flowers
Aisle and pew flowers, altar arrangements, and a floral arch or arbour — which makes an extraordinary backdrop for photographs.
Reception Flowers
Table centrepieces are the main focus, from low garden arrangements to tall, dramatic designs, alongside welcome-table and top-table florals.
Buttonholes and Corsages
A simple buttonhole echoing the bridal bouquet ties everything together, with corsages for mothers and honoured guests.
Seasonal Considerations
A May or June wedding may be able to feature peonies, though they should be booked early. Autumn lends itself to dahlias and warm tones, while winter can be beautiful with ranunculus, amaryllis and eucalyptus. If you love the idea of local, seasonal blooms, ask about our British-grown wedding flowers.
Starting the Conversation
Our approach begins with a relaxed consultation about your venue, your colours and — most importantly — how you want the day to feel. See our wedding gallery for inspiration, then visit our weddings page to learn more and enquire.
